Description
Applications are invited from suitably qualified medical practitioners for radiation oncology registrar positions in the Victoria and Tasmania network, commencing on Monday 8th February, 2027.
Radiation oncology is a clinically and technically challenging oncology sub-specialty, for which training is conducted under the auspices of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists (RANZCR). The duration of training is five years under the current RANZCR training curriculum.
Radiation oncology registrar training in Victoria and Tasmania is provided by the following health services, who participate in a single, combined recruitment process for new networked registrars:
- Alfred Health (Alfred Health Radiation Oncology, Prahran and Gippsland Radiation Oncology, Traralgon)
- Austin Health (Olivia Newton-John Cancer Wellness & Research Centre, Heidelberg, and Ballarat Austin Radiation Oncology Centre)
- Barwon Health (Andrew Love Cancer Centre, Geelong)
- Genesis Care (Fitzroy)
- Launceston General Hospital (W.P. Holman Clinic)
- Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre (Parkville, Bendigo, Box Hill, Moorabbin and Sunshine)
- Royal Hobart Hospital (W. P. Holman Clinic)
Trainees will train in at least two networked health services during the course of their program. This is in order to meet RANZCR requirements and to ensure exposure to all the learning opportunities proscribed by the curriculum. It is usual for each trainee to spend at least 12 months outside the Melbourne/Geelong metropolitan areas.
Employment contracts are offered annually by the relevant health service. Subject to receiving a satisfactory annual review of progress, trainees in an accredited position will be offered a position for the next year of training, as determined by the specific appointment policies of individual health services.
Salary as per relevant State EBA.
