Concord Hospital is one of Australia’s premier tertiary referral hospitals and is recognised as a world class leader in healthcare excellence and innovation. It is the principal teaching hospital of the University of Sydney and provides an extensive range of treatment, including diagnostic and interventional services to people in NSW and across Australia.
Concord Radiology is an integral part of the Hospital’s services, specialising in Diagnostic Radiology and providing first-class services to the busy Emergency Department, highly specialised hospital inpatient services, Clinical Trials and other tertiary functions of the Hospital. It is a teaching department with a large Trainee cohort and strong participation in hospital multi-disciplinary team (MDT) meetings. We are looking for an experienced Radiologist to become the next Head of Department at Concord Radiology.
The Head of Department is the medical leader of the Department, responsible for the management of clinical services, medical staff, training, research and quality programs. The position will work across the professional groups of the Department to promote evidence-based clinical practice that delivers excellent care for Hospital patients and patients receiving imaging in its satellite services, including Canterbury Hospital. The Head of Department will work with Medical Imaging Stream, Concord Hospital and SLHD Executive and other medical professionals to ensure radiology services meet the needs of the Hospital and are provided to a high standard in a timely manner.
To be considered for this position the following is required:
- Demonstrated ability to apply clinical knowledge and concepts in practical situations in accordance with contemporary evidence-based best practice in medical imaging, along with the ability to do this in the context of multiple competing priorities.
- A track record in the leadership of medical staff.
- You will be a current medical practitioner or eligible for specialist registration with the Australia Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), and Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Radiologists and/or specialist recognition as provided under the Staff Specialist (State) Award.

All NSW Health workers are required to have completed a primary course of a COVID-19 vaccine which has been approved or recognised by the Therapeutics Goods Administration (TGA). Additionally, Category A workers are required to receive a booster dose three months after completing the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations. New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health, or provide an approved medical contraindication certificate (IM011 immunisation medical exemption form) certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW. Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.
